Acetaminophen is killing our children

Acetaminophen is the number one cause of unintentional, and intentional poisonings, in British Columbia, Canada. There is documented evidence published by the B.C. Drug and Poison Info Center and you can find it on Ashley’s website located here.

The United States F.D.A. has recently announced that it is moving toward sweeping changes with respect to acetaminophen products including label changes, lowering dosages, or pulling products altogether.

I suspect that if it’s a problem in B.C., and the United States, then it’s a problem across Canada and elsewhere in the world.

Our petition was created after consultation with our local M.P. James Lunney. You can be assured it is on the correct form and will not be ignored upon completion and submission to his office.  Download your copy here.

After the original petitions hit Parliament, we were promised a change from Health Canada by the fall of 2007 - that “change” has not yet happened. I wonder how many other people have become sick, or passed away, due to unnecessary delay.

The Federal Government needs original signatures in hand writing.

Please photocopy the Petition as many times as you like and distribute them among your cores of influence. We can create a domino effect that the Government cannot ignore.

Our position is simple:

We require the Canadian Government change the laws regarding Acetaminophen labeling.

1.  It must clearly state that you MUST NOT take more than the recommended dose as serious illness and or death may result.

2.  All Acetaminophen products must have a clear packaging label/ message (such as a tear away warning) that the product contains Acetaminophen and MUST NOT BE TAKEN with another product that contains Acetaminophen as serious illness and or death may result.
